In addition, the 2400 Motel was presented with the Sustainability Champion Award from the BC Hotel Association at their 2024 Awards of Excellence Gala, representing the top talent in the industry. This month we were evaluated by GreenStep to assess our sustainability performance as a business! We are very proud to announce that we were awarded a Silver grading for our sustainability initiatives and practices following a thirdparty assessment and review. The process includes a one-on-one review of our business practices with a GreenStep Assessor to see how we’re doing against their globally recognized criteria. Following the assessment, we received a report that identifies where we are doing well, and also highlights areas where we have opportunity for improvement, helping us to form an action plan for continued success on our sustainability journey. We will be reassessed every two years to maintain our certification and our momentum.
To demonstrate our commitment to improving the sustainability performance of our business between now and 2030, we signed the pledge with GreenStep. GreenStep is a Canadian social enterprise that helps businesses and organizations measure, report on, and improve their sustainability performance and take climate action. They provide sustainability and regenerative strategy development, climate action plans, product lifecycle analysis, and a range of certification programs, software tools, and consulting services.

FreeGarden™ Rain rain barrels were installed at the 2400 Motel to help conserve rain water and to protect the environment.
Enviro World provides cost effective, high quality environmental containers, and expertly designed and supported waste diversion programs and green initiatives to municipalities and governments.
The 2400 Motel strives to reduce single-use plastics wherever possible, and is constantly seeking opportunities to transition to reusable items. As part of the transition, we have recently replaced the single-size bath toiletries with full-size dispensers.
In order to remain committed to the environment, we decided to use eco friendly towels that are quickly dry and recycled microfiber sheets that are 100% recycled polyester certified by the Global Recycled Standard (GRS).
To further our green initiatives, we have sourced eco-friendly flooring for our rooms and suites and have already begun upgrading them. Using sustainable flooring reduces our carbon footprint in a simple, yet effective way. This flooring option is PEFC certified, and is a low emissions product.
Our pledge commits us to do our part to reduce our impact on the environment, raise awareness about the importance of sustainable tourism to travelers, and help them make more sustainable travel choices.
The interior, exterior, and back of the house lighting has been upgraded to LED.
LED lighting will significantly increase energy efficiency at the Motel, as lighting consumes a large portion of the Motel’s energy. In turn, energy consumption (from lighting) and carbon footprint will be lowered immediately.
The Earth Tempo line uses gentle 100% paraben-free formulas which protect the water and waste streams. Soaps contain pure vegetable base with accessories packaged in recycled paper containing natural soy inks. To give nature an extra boost, this green line has blended the tubes and caps with a non-toxic compound known as, Envo-Clean® which biodegrades in a typical landfill.
In order to reduce water usage at the motel, Ecofitt recently replaced all of our faucets and showerheads.
We installed two electric vehicle charging stations from ChargerQuest for anyone to use. Either charge your electric vehicle while staying at the 2400 Motel, or charge your vehicle while exploring the Collingwood neighborhood.
